STATE REP. ERHARDT SWORN-IN AS LEGISLATIVE SESSION BEGINS

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

ST. PAUL, MN - State Representative Ron Erhardt (DFL - Edina) was officially sworn in as the District 49A State Representative as the 88th Legislative Session convened at noon on January 8th  at the State Capitol. Rep. Erhardt, first elected in 1990, is beginning his 10th non-consecutive term in the Minnesota House of Representatives.  Rep. Erhardt represented Edina from 1990-2008 as a Republican, and is now a Democrat.

“The State of Minnesota needs to return to fiscal responsibility," said Rep. Erhardt. “The people of Minnesota expect bipartisan government that gets the job done, and that’s what I intend to deliver.”

Economic forecasts revealed early last month that lawmakers must tackle a $1.1 billion budget shortfall this year. When the money still owed to schools and inflation is included the shortfall rises to over $3 billion.

“Despite the challenges of our state’s financial situation, I am confident we can put forth a responsible budget,” added Rep. Erhardt. “It is our job to make Minnesota the best place in the country to live, work and raise a family.”

Much of that work will begin in legislative hearings throughout the coming weeks and months. This session Rep. Erhardt will again serve as chair of the Transportation Policy Committee, as well as a member of the Capital Investment, Rules and Legislative Administration, Taxes and Transportation Finance Committees.

“I’m very excited to get back to work for the people of Minnesota and especially Edina,” said Rep. Erhardt.

Throughout the legislative session, Rep. Erhardt encourages all constituents to contact him directly with any questions, comments, or concerns on any legislative issue. Rep. Erhardt can be reached by phone at 651-296-4363 or by email at rep.ron.erhardt@house.mn.
