RELEASE: Statement from Rep. Pat Garofalo on Governor Dayton's veto of the bipartisan Jobs and Energy bill

Saturday, May 23, 2015
ST. PAUL, MN—Chairman of the Job Growth and Energy Affordability Committee Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, issued the following statement regarding Governor Dayton's veto of the bipartisan Jobs and Energy omnibus bill (HF1437) on Saturday.

"It's disappointing that Governor Dayton vetoed a bipartisan compromise bill," Garofalo said. "I hope to work with Governor Dayton during the special session on agreeing to and passing a Jobs and Energy bill that will help connect Minnesotans with better paying jobs and make our state's energy both cleaner and more affordable."

The Jobs and Energy bill received bipartisan support in the House and the Senate passing by a combined margin of 109-38. This is the third veto of a bipartisan budget bill by Governor Dayton, who forced a special session by vetoing the E-12 Education Omnibus bill that included $400 million in increased funding for schools and early learning programs. Dayton also vetoed the Environment and Agriculture bill on Saturday afternoon.
