Rep. Schultz: GOP plan for Minnesota’s transportation system lacks broad impact and transit funds

Monday, March 23, 2015

ST. PAUL, MNState Representative Jennifer Schultz released the following statement about the House Republican transportation plan that was released this morning.

“The counter-plan proposed by the Republican leadership lacks the urgency that my Duluth neighbors are demanding.  We don’t need reminders that our transportation infrastructure needs help. I’m disappointed that they’ve missed this opportunity to invest in the economic future of our state in a strong, bipartisan manner. Families in Duluth expect transportation solutions that give them safe roads and bridges, as well as transit options, and this plan doesn’t get us there. Republican leaders refuse to acknowledge that doing something on transportation, and paying for it, requires having money.  Our economy, today and tomorrow, depends on these transportation improvements. That’s why borrowing money from schools and hospitals and relying on the state's credit card is no way to fund Minnesota’s transportation system.”
