St Paul—Today, Minnesota House Republicans released their second transportation plan. Representative Jack Considine (DFL-Mankato) issued the following statement.
“The only way for the Republican transportation plan to work is to take money that could go to schools, seniors, and borrow from future Minnesotans through the bonding bill. With this big of a shift, I am concerned that the legislature won’t be able to update how we fund nursing homes or other priorities the Republicans have already introduced. I haven’t been here long, but I can already tell that this is road to deficits. The Republicans are calling these long-term funding sources, but there is nothing to stop future legislatures from using this money for something else.”
