Rep. Bly Praises Governor’s Budget Proposal

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Saint Paul – Today, Governor Mark Dayton released his budget proposal for the next two years.  With a budget surplus and a growing economy, he continued to build on the progress of the last two years by putting forward a regionally balanced budget that invests in early childhood education, affordable college, job training, transportation and broadband infrastructure, and tax breaks for hard working, middle class families.

“We have a surplus and the economy is in good shape” said Rep. David Bly.  “With that in mind, the Governor continues the work he started two years ago.  With this budget we’ll continue to make investments in education, including all day Pre-K, job training and college affordability.”

The Governor’s budget guarantees that every child in Minnesota will be able to attend free Pre-Kindergarten, ensuring that more children are ready and able to succeed in school.  It makes college more affordable and expands job training, which will keep good-paying jobs here in Minnesota as our economy changes.  He invests in repairing our crumbling transportation infrastructure and expanding transit, making our communities more livable.  The budget also expands tax credits and incentives for families raising children, making affordable, high quality childcare more accessible.

Rep. Bly encourages constituents to contact him with any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas. Rep. Bly can be reached by phone at 651-296-0171 or by email at rep.david.bly@house.mn. Constituents can also visit Rep. Bly’s legislative page and sign up for email updates.
