There are two important meetings coming up about District 833’s upcoming budget cuts and a fun family opportunity tomorrow night in Newport. Please find the details below.

District 833 Budget Cuts

South Washington County School District 833 will be hosting two community meetings to discuss how to implement $8 million in budget cuts over the 2015-16 fiscal years. That represents a 4% reduction in the district’s operating budget. The proposed reductions will go before the board on February 22, 2015 and may include laying off dozens of teachers and staff, reduced programs and increased fees to support school activities.

To hear more and share your thoughts on the cuts, please attend one of the two upcoming meetings:

What: District 833 Community Conversation on Budget Cuts

Where: Woodbury High School - 2665 Woodlane Drive

When: Monday, February 9 between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m.

and

What: District 833 Community Conversation on Budget Cuts

Where: East Ridge High School - 4200 Pioneer Drive

When: Wednesday, February 11 between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m.

 

Newport Third Annual Winter Family Fun Night

Tomorrow night the Newport Park Board and Newport on the Move will be hosting the Third Annual Winter Family Fun Night. It will be a wonderful night of family skating, winter games, music and refreshments. Join in the fun tomorrow night.

Where: Lions Park

When: Saturday, February 7 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
