Rep. Applebaum Sworn in to Represent District 44B

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

ST. PAUL – Minnesota state legislators gathered at the Capitol today for the first day of the 2015 legislative session.  The eighty-ninth session of the legislature includes 26 new members of the Minnesota House of Representatives who were sworn into office along with their colleagues, including Rep. Jon Applebaum (DFL-Minnetonka).

Rep. Applebaum said, “Being sworn in, surrounded by my family, was an unforgettable experience.  I am forever grateful to them for helping me get here.  It was a huge group effort.”

Rep. Applebaum was joined by his fiancée Kate Fischer, Mother Robin Johnson, Father Jay Applebaum, Grandparents Sid and Lorraine Applebaum and Gloria Johnson, Aunt Nancy Rosenberg, and Kate’s Mother, Andrea Fischer.

A live-long resident of Minnetonka, attorney and business owner, Rep. Applebaum has been preparing for the start of his first term since winning in November.  Late in December, Speaker-designate Kurt Daudt appointed him to three committees: Agriculture Finance, Civil Law and Data Practices, and Commerce and Regulatory Reform.

Rep. Applebaum remarked, “I’m excited to get started.  I’ve been looking forward to getting to know the legislative process and representing my constituents at the Capitol.  The committee assignments I’ve been given are of great interest to me.”

Rep. Applebaum will focus on the issues important to his constituents, including continuing investments in Minnesota’s world-class education system, improving transportation infrastructure in the region, and ensuring the creation of good-paying jobs in his community.
