Rep. Gene Pelowski appointed to key House committees

Thursday, December 18, 2014

St. Paul, Minnesota — With the Legislative Session around the corner, state Representative Gene Pelowski (DFL – Winona) received his committee assignments today. Rep. Pelowski will be serving as the DFL Lead member of the Higher Education Policy and Finance Committee. In addition, Rep. Pelowski will be on the Ways and Means, Capital Investment, and Rules and Legislative Administration Committees.

"These committees represent some of the most fundamental work of our state government, including setting the overall state budget and determining the bonding projects that will be funded statewide," said Rep. Pelowski.

Over the last two years, Rep. Pelowski has served as the Chair of the House Higher Education Finance and Policy Committee, spearheading efforts to freeze college tuition and provide greater legislative oversight.

“We need to continue our efforts to make college more affordable and reduce the bloated bureaucracy and administrative costs that have driven up tuition,” said Rep. Pelowski. “I look forward to continuing work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle on this issue.”

Rep. Pelowski will be entering his 15th term in the Minnesota House and encourages constituents to contact him with any questions or comments they have on legislative issues. He can be contacted toll-free at 1-888-681-8226 or via e-mail at rep.gene.pelowski@house.mn.

The Legislative Session begins on January 6, 2015.
