Unemployment rate drops to 4.1%

Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) released the monthly jobs report today, indicating 7,200 jobs were added in September. The state’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.1%.

DEED also adjusted the August report, showing Minnesota gained an additional 2,700 jobs.

Speaker Paul Thissen released the following statement.

"Minnesotans can take pride in their hard work that is moving Minnesota forward,” said Speaker Thissen. “This report shows our state is building momentum and staying ahead of the curve. Now is the time to look forward and seek new ideas to build on Minnesota's momentum. We can build an even brighter future in Minnesota by expanding economic opportunities to middle-class Minnesotans, strengthening our world-class education system, and providing more economic security to women and families."

Minnesota has added 172,000 new jobs since January 2011.
