Twin Cities metro has lowest unemployment rate in the country

Saturday, July 12, 2014

Dear neighbors,

There is no shortage of signs that Minnesota’s economy is getting stronger.

Just yesterday, Toro Co. opened a $25 million addition to their Bloomington-based headquarters while celebrating their 100th year in business. The expansion was made possible due in part to a state investment that ensures Toro will retain their 900 Minnesota workers and add 50 new corporate positions.

Thanks to our outstanding businesses and talented workforce, we recently learned that the Twin Cities metro area has the lowest unemployment rate of any metro area in the nation.

With our well known reputation as a great state to live, work, raise a family and do business, Minnesota’s economy continues to grow and attract major events like the All-Star Game this year and the Super Bowl in 2018.

For tomorrow’s economic update, I’ll share a recent report from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on where Minnesota ranks nationally in the ‘talent pipeline’ – a key metric of the skills and talents of our workforce.

Sincerely,

Will Morgan
State Representative, District 56B
