Legislative Update (April 17, 2015)

Friday, April 17, 2015

Friends and neighbors,

As we enter the last several weeks of the 2015 legislative session, my colleagues and I will begin to spend late nights on the House floor debating major funding bills.

As I stated on the campaign trail and in office, one of my top priorities is ensuring safe and effective transportation throughout our district and state. Under our transportation proposal, Osseo will receive an additional $61,000 per year from the Small City Transportation Fund for transportation projects to improve our roads and bridges. We are also focusing on transportation projects to improve Maple Grove’s accessibility to major freeways that run through our district, including a bill currently being written to provide funding for three more entrances to Highway 610. I hope that we can work quickly to ensure that these projects are not delayed in the House and Senate.

I am also looking forward to hearing bills that ensure a great education for all our children and quality long-term care for our aging adults and vulnerable populations, along with numerous other issues that are sure to come up on the House floor.

Lastly, thank you to Maple Grove small business owner Brad Ganzer for joining me last week at the State of the State. It was great to have Brad as my guest and to have the opportunity to discuss how we can make Minnesota a better place to do business.

Please continue to stay in touch to share your thoughts on these and other issues, and take my Legislative Survey to make your voice heard. As always, you can reach me via phone at (651) 296-5502, or via email at Rep.Dennis.Smith@house.mn.

It is an honor to serve you,

Dennis
