ST. PAUL, MN—Representative Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea, issued the following statement regarding Governor Dayton's fifth State of the State address:
"I am hopeful that the Governor will remain engaged with the legislature and is prepared to work in good faith with both parties on the buffer proposal, as well as the other important issues at the legislature including finding a way to fix our state's roads and bridges," Bennett said.
"Farmers and citizens have been giving feedback and suggestions to Governor Dayton on his buffer plan at meetings across the state for the last month, so it was disappointing that he has not yet announced changes to his proposal, and instead continued his negative rhetoric about farmers and the groups that work on their behalf. We all want clean water, and will continue working on ways to help protect Minnesota's beautiful lakes, rivers, and streams."
