Women's Economic Security Act signed into law on Mother's Day

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Dear neighbors,

The Governor signed the Women’s Economic Security Act into law on Mother’s Day, marking historic progress toward ensuring equal opportunities for women to succeed in the workplace.

The Women’s Economic Security Act passed both the House and Senate with broad bipartisan support. It includes new tools to reduce the gender pay gap, strengthen workplace protections and flexibility for pregnant women and nursing mothers and a bill I authored (House File 2291) to expand job opportunities for women in high-wage, high-demand occupations like computer science and engineering.

Click here to learn more about the bill from a story that appeared in Monday’s Star Tribune or click here to check out a fact sheet.

This kind of commonsense, bipartisan initiative will strengthen families, build on our positive economic momentum, continue growing our economy from the middle-out and make Minnesota a better place to live, work and raise a family right now and into the future.

Sincerely,

Will Morgan
State Representative, District 56B
