Governor Dayton Signs District One Hospital Legislation

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

ST. PAUL – Today Governor Mark Dayton signed special legislation for District One Hospital into law.  The legislation was authored by State Rep. Patti Fritz (DFL- Faribault) and State Senator Vicki Jensen (DFL- Owatonna) and had been approved by the Minnesota House earlier this month and in the Senate on Tuesday.

“I’m pleased we were able to get this bill done before session ended.  I want to thank the Governor for signing it so that the folks in Faribault can continue their work and negotiations," said Rep. Patti Fritz.  "It will continue to keep excellent quality of care at our community hospital."

State law required legislation to give District One Hospital the authority to proceed with negotiations for a possible sale or merger.  It will enable District One to maintain the quality continuum of care for patients in the Faribault region and provide more local options for treatment and procedures.
