Mid-Session Legislative Update

Friday, April 11, 2014

Dear Bloomington Neighbor,

I just wanted to drop a note at the halfway mark of the 2014 Legislative Session and check in with you.

At this point at the State Capitol, we are ahead of schedule and many state issues are being debated, considered and amended. All of the major tax relief and finance bills have passed out of both the Minnesota House and the Minnesota Senate. Next, our work will turn to conference committees.

Conference committees are made up of a handful of legislators from the House and Senate. Conference committee members negotiate the differences between the House and Senate legislation. This important step requires compromise.  I am fortunate to serve as the Chair of the Minnesota House Tax Committee and will head the Tax Conference Committee.

As spring begins in earnest, many important legislative issues have been voted down and are no longer being considered.  Other issues have received enough votes for passage by the Minnesota Legislature and have been signed into law by the Governor. Dozens more pieces of legislation have yet to be voted on.

I want to thank everyone who has emailed me to share their thoughts on a myriad of state issues. I hope you will continue to contact me.

The best way to do that is to email me directly at rep.ann.lenczewski@house.mn

I read and reply to all my own email.  Additionally, I respond to Bloomington residents ahead of all other Minnesotans.

Enjoy the weekend ahead.

Ann
