News from Rep. Peggy Bennett 03-13-2015

Friday, March 13, 2015
Dear Friends,

This week has seen a rush of activity in committee as we're now one week away from the first committee deadline. House bills have until March 20th to be heard and acted upon favorably so that they can continue to move through the process. Bills introduced after March 20th, or that don't meet the committee deadlines must receive special approval from the Rules Committee if they are to come to the floor and move through the process.

All four of the bills that I have been working on so far this session have met the first deadline, including my testing reduction bill which received its first hearing this week.

Thank you
Thanks to the 20 or so people who came to Jake's Pizza in Wells last Saturday for my listening session. We had great conversation about education, long-term care, transportation, and other issues. If you weren't able to make it, you can always email me at rep.peggy.bennett@house.mn or call my office at 651-296-8216. I plan to hold additional listening sessions in other cities in our district as well, and will let you know as they are scheduled.

Survey
If you haven't yet, please take a few minutes to fill out my 2015 legislative survey. Your thoughts help me better represent our community, and it's helpful to read the feedback and input on what issues are important to constituents in our area. Please pass along the survey to your friends and neighbors as well so I can hear what they have to say. You can find the survey link by clicking here or by following the link on my House website.

Constituent Visits

Thanks to Tesloch from Albert Lea for coming to visit the Capitol last week. Tesloch grew up in Africa and has been learning more about how our legislative and political system works. I was so glad he got to have a front row seat for one of our legislative sessions.

Thanks to the constituents who came to talk about homeless issues this week. I love the theme of their group: Lift One; Lift All.

Have a great weekend, and enjoy the beautiful weather!

Peggy Bennett
State Representative, District 27A
