NASH APPOINTED TO LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION ON METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT

Thursday, March 5, 2015
ST. PAUL – State Rep. Jim Nash (R-Waconia) has been appointed to the Legislative Commission on Metropolitan Government by Speaker Kurt Daudt. The commission is responsible for recommendations made to the Metropolitan Council and to the legislature on issues such as:
- The rate and dollar amount of property tax levies implemented by the Metropolitan Council,
- Requests for an increase in debt of the Metropolitan Council,
- The size and scope of the Metropolitan Council,
- The Metropolitan Council’s budget requests, work program, and capital improvement program, and the implementation of the budget and programs.

“I am thankful to Speaker Daudt for appointing me to the Legislative Commission on Metropolitan Government,” said Nash. “As the former mayor of Waconia, I know the impact that Metropolitan Council actions have on our Minnesota cities, large and small. I am excited to have the opportunity to exercise oversight over all actions taken by the Council, and to have the opportunity to ensure that the Council’s actions do not place an undue burden on our cities and towns.”

Nash’s appointment is effective immediately.
