News from Rep. Tara Mack 02-27-2015

Friday, February 27, 2015
Dear Friends,

It's been another exciting week at the Capitol. On Wednesday, I participated in a press conference announcing bipartisan support for the Minnesota Telemedicine Act, which would expand health coverage of telemedicine visits for Minnesotans across the state. Telemedicine is one way that we can reduce health care costs and make health care more accessible and convenient for families.

With telemedicine, families can significantly reduce the hassle involved with driving to a doctor's office for certain visits. This would help families in the Metro, the suburbs, and especially in Greater Minnesota where there are fewer specialists available, and families have to drive long distances to reach their provider.

There is strong bipartisan support in the House and the Senate for this legislation, and I will be sure to keep you updated on its progress as session continues.

February Forecast
Today the Minnesota Management and Budget Office released their February budget forecast. We learned that Minnesota is fortunate to have a $1.869 billion surplus for the 2016-2017 budget.

Now the process begins of putting together our budget proposal for the next two years. Republicans are committed to look at ways to put more money back in your pocket, and continuing to focus our priorities on issues like ensuring a world-class education for students, improving roads and bridges, expanding access and affordability for health care, and caring for our seniors.

I will be sure to keep you posted on the budget situation in the coming weeks and months.

Have a great weekend!

Tara Mack
State Representative, District 57A
