Legislative Update (Jan. 30, 2015)

Friday, January 30, 2015

Friends and Neighbors,

The legislative session is ramping up as we near the end of the month. I continue to stand up for your values in the legislature.

Dayton Introduces Budget

On Tuesday, Gov. Dayton introduced his budget proposal. I have many concerns regarding his proposal, including its lack of funding for long-term care, its bloated spending on bureaucratic interests such as private planes for him and his commissioners, and, most importantly, its economic impact on average Minnesota families. Under his proposal, state spending increases by $1,244 for every person in Minnesota – children and adults. This type of government growth is unsustainable. I look forward to discussing our alternative in the coming weeks.

Passing My First Bill

My first bill, HF262, passed the House Civil Law and Data Practices committee on January 27th. My bill allows cities, towns, and counties to use additional evidence of a title to approve land plats, reducing time and expense incurred by property owners and developers in getting plat approval. I am proud to have unanimous support from my colleagues on the committee as the bill moves forward.

Don’t Miss It

My town halls are less than a week away. I am very excited to see many familiar faces and discuss your family’s concerns. I hope that you will attend one of these two events:

In Maple Grove: February 3rd, 2015 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM at the Maple Grove Government Center, 12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway North, Maple Grove, MN 55311

In Osseo: February 10th, 2015 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM at the Osseo City Hall, 415 Central Avenue, Osseo, MN 55369
