Hello Friends!
Just a quick update this week. Committees are in full-swing as we start to piece together and work on legislation that is making its way to the House floor.
The Governor revealed his $42 billion budget proposal this week, the start of the long budget process that will likely stretch into May. I will have more to say on that in the coming weeks.
Disaster Relief
Early this week the House unanimously passed a disaster relief bill to help 47 counties across the state pay for repairs and cleanup from flooding last summer.
Thanks to some creative budgeting, we were able to pay for most of the state's portion of the funding by canceling previously unspent money from past disaster relief bills. I'm glad to see us spending taxpayer money wisely and taking steps to use money we already have instead of asking taxpayers for more.
