LUECK URGES COMMENCEMENT OF OIL PIPELINE PROJECT

Thursday, January 15, 2015

ST. PAUL – Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, recently issued a letter to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, urging the panel to allow construction of the Sandpiper oil pipeline to proceed without further delay.

“The Public Utilities Commission has not acted in the public interest by delaying the permitting process of this project,” Lueck, in part, wrote in the letter. “I ask the Commission to refocus and place public safety ahead of the manageable environmental concerns raised by some citizen groups, the Minnesota Dept. of Natural Resources and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.”

The proposed pipeline would carry oil from North Dakota to refineries in Clearbrook and Superior, Wis.
