Legislative Update (Jan. 23, 2015)

Friday, January 23, 2015

Friends,

Another week has passed at the Capitol, and I am working hard for you and your family in St. Paul.

In the News

It was great to meet with the Savage Pacer to discuss my priorities for this session. If you haven’t seen the article already, you can read it here. I’m looking forward to continuing to meet with our local papers so that you can stay up-to-date with my work in the legislature.

Sunday Sales

Last week marked the anniversary of the start of Prohibition, the end of which highlights for us the problem with over-regulation of an industry. One of the first bills I coauthored was HF115, which permits the sale of liquor on Sundays. I believe it is important for us to leave important business decisions, such as what days a store is going to be open, to business owners themselves. I look forward to discussing this bill more with you and my colleagues as the legislative session progresses.

Coming Up

Early next week, Governor Dayton will announce his budget. I look forward to serving as your voice as we discuss his budget plans and ours, and will continue to promote the policies that best serve our community.
