Legislative Update (Jan. 23, 2015)

Friday, January 23, 2015

Friends,

The legislature is off to a great start, and we’re working hard for you.

Our first bill passed in the House, HF6, keeps more money in your pocket by implementing Federal Tax Conformity. In fact, this bill provides $19.9 million of tax relief to many Minnesotans, including teachers, students and homeowners. On average, each of these groups can expect to see around $70 of additional tax deductions when they file their taxes this year. I’m proud of our priorities, and am looking forward to discussing many more bills that will help protect your family budget.

Governor Dayton is expected to announce his budget numbers early next week. I am committed to looking carefully at his suggestions and listening to you, the taxpayer, in order to identify what Minnesota’s budget ought to look like this session.

If your friends and neighbors are looking to stay informed as the legislative session progresses, please encourage them to sign up for my session updates by entering their email address here. As always, I would welcome your visit at the Capitol. You can set up a meeting with me by contacting my Legislative Assistant, Chelsea Peter, at (651) 296-9302. Email me your thoughts regarding legislation or any other issue before the legislature at rep.bob.loonan@house.mn.

Please stay in touch as session progresses. I’m looking forward to continuing to serve you.

Your voice in St. Paul,

Rep. Bob Loonan
