Legislative Update (Jan. 23, 2015)

Friday, January 23, 2015

Friends,

As the Governor’s budget announcement looms, I am thankful to be at the Capitol to represent our community’s interests. It is an honor to serve a community that is so involved in our state’s legislative process, and I treasure hearing from many of you as the legislative session continues.

This Week at the Capitol

Governor Dayton has finally begun to realize the devastating financial impact that his forced childcare unionization will have on family budgets, and has proposed a childcare tax credit to try to offset this unintended consequence. Maple Grove and Osseo families shouldn’t have to shoulder the financial burden of higher childcare costs due to policies implemented last session that were wrong for our community and our state. I look forward to our discussions at the Capitol as we pass legislation that will help you and your family.

This week, I authored my first bill – HF262. My bill will make it less expensive and easier to cancel a contract for deed, and simplifies the title process for plat approval for land owners. Simply put, this bill eases government burdens on landowners while saving money and time.

Don’t Miss It

My townhalls are less than two weeks away, and I am excited to see you and your family:

In Maple Grove: February 3rd, 2015 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM at the Maple Grove Government Center, 12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway North, Maple Grove, MN 55311

In Osseo: February 10th, 2015 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM at the Osseo City Hall, 415 Central Avenue, Osseo, MN 55369

I look forward to seeing you at one of these two events and hearing about the issues that are most important to you!
