Hello friends!

I wanted to take a minute to give you a quick weekly update from the Minnesota House of Representatives.

On Tuesday, January 6th the 89th Minnesota Legislature was sworn in.

I want to thank you for giving me the privilege to serve you in the Minnesota House!

This session I have been assigned to the following committees:

  • Public Safety and Crime Prevention (my second term on this committee)
  • Job Growth and Energy Affordability
  • Environment and Natural Resources

These are all Policy and Finance Committees.

This year: (a few items to note)

In Public Safety: we hope to address the following issues:

  • Automatic License Plate Readers (LPRs)
  • Body cameras for law enforcement
  • The use of drones

In Jobs and Energy:

  • I will continue to fight to keep our jobs at our clean and affordable coal power plants.
  • We will be looking for ways to create an friendly environment to encourage new job providers.
  • We will also be looking for ways to keep our current job providers and to bring back those who left.

In Environment and Natural Resources:

  • We will be working to reduce extra fees and courses for boat owners
  • We will be working to reign in the DNR - to make it easier to put wells on your property.
  • Continue to look for ways to help our Agricultural Industry.

Also our first 5 GOP bills will be addressing important issues such as:

  • Helping our state to grow more private sector jobs
  • Making sure that all Minnesota children receive a GREAT education
  • Protecting our aging adults
  • Refocus transportation dollars for more roads and bridges
  • Fix MNSure.

There are many other issues and bills I will be working on. I look forward to sharing them with you as the legislature moves forward into 2015. As you can see, we have our work cut out for us!

Again, it is my privilege to serve you in the Minnesota House of Representatives!
