2015 SESSION IS UNDERWAY

Friday, January 9, 2015

Happy New Year to you all! Minnesota’s State Capitol is once again open for business as the 2015 legislative session began on January 6. All state lawmakers have now taken their oath of office and work in the Minnesota House is underway.

It remains such an honor to work on your behalf in St. Paul and I am thankful for your continued support. I’ve always looked forward to hearing from and working with area residents on issues that are important to them, and this year will be no exception.

This year, much of my time will be spent focused on crafting policies that protect our land, air, and waterways as I have been appointed chair of the Minnesota House Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance Committee. I was really pleased with this news as environmental issues have always been among my top legislative concerns, and I look forward to chairing this committee once again.

In addition, I will also serve on the Mining and Outdoor Recreation Policy, Transportation Policy and Finance, and Ways and Means committees.

This week, House leadership also unveiled its “First Five” bills for the 2015 session. The priorities include growing better-paying jobs; giving every child a world-class education; protecting the quality of life for our aging residents; refocusing some of our budget dollars towards road and bridge repair; and ensuring fair access and affordability in health care.

As session moves forward, please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns. I can be reached by phone at 296-3135, and by email at rep.denny.mcnamara@house.mn.

I will also be offering my constituents the opportunity to keep track of Capitol happenings through email updates. If you are interested in receiving this newsletter please visit my House website at www.house.mn/54B and click on “Email Updates” to sign up.

Thanks again for giving me the privilege of serving your interests in the Minnesota House. Please keep in touch!
