News from Representative Wills 12-19-2014

Friday, December 19, 2014

Dear Friends,

Committee assignments were released this week, and I'm excited to share with you that I will be serving on four committees in 2015-2016. I will continue serving on three committees I served on in my first term: Education Finance, Education Innovation Policy, and the Legacy Committee. I will also be a new member of the Taxes Committee, giving me a chance to have input on tax policy that impacts families and businesses across the state.

I'm looking forward to what I hope will be a productive committee process that incorporates the good ideas from legislators of both parties. Under divided government, it's up to both parties to find areas of agreement and compromise to address issues in ways that will bring about meaningful results.

I also welcome your input and thoughts as we begin session early next month. You can always reach my office by phone at 651-296-4306 or by email at rep.anna.wills@house.mn. Any mail addressed to my old office will still reach me, but my new office is Room 477 in the State Office Building, so please direct any mail to my new address.

In the Community
In addition to attending the various session preview events sponsored by groups like the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, the Dakota County Board of Commissioners, and Education Minnesota that have been going on the past couple of weeks, I was able to attend "A Christmas Carol: The Musical" at Rosemount High School last Saturday, December 13. Congratulations to the talented students and staff who put on a fantastic performance.

I also got to see a terrific performance by the Eastview High School Chamber Choir at the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce Christmas & Awards Luncheon last Wednesday, December 10. Thanks to the students and staff for taking time out of their busy schedules to perform for us, and congratulations to the many local businesses that were honored, including Wings Financial Credit Union for being recognized as the 2014 Apple Valley Business of the Year!

Condolences

My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of John "Jack" Gores, who passed away on Sunday, December 7. Jack was the Mayor of Coates and a lifetime resident of our community. He will be missed. To read his obituary and express your condolences, visit: http://www.caturia-smidtfh.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=2850987&fh_id=11330

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays
With Hanukkah already upon us and Christmas around the corner, I hope you and your family enjoy a blessed holiday season, and a safe and happy New Year. We have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season, and a great deal to look forward to in 2015. It's a privilege to represent our community, and work on behalf of you and the families of Apple Valley, Rosemount, and Coates, and I'm looking forward to continuing that work in the months and years ahead.

Merry Christmas!

Anna Wills
