Rep. Sarah Anderson named Chair of the State Government Finance Committee
ST. PAUL, Minn.—State Representative Sarah Anderson, R-Plymouth, today was named Chair of the State Government Finance Committee for the 2015-2016 legislative sessions.
Anderson will be responsible for a $900 million budget that allocates funding to several core state agencies.
“It is an honor to hold this responsibility on behalf of all Minnesotans,” says Anderson. “Over the last two years, government spending has grown three times faster than the economy – that’s just unsustainable.”
Out of control spending and government waste and fraud are taking a toll on hardworking families. Anderson says, “We need to restore citizens' confidence in our state by practicing responsible budgeting that supports a healthy economy for all Minnesotans. I look forward to making our state government efficient, sustainable, and accountable to taxpayers.”
Anderson served as Chair of the Redistricting Committee from 2011-2012. She has served on Ways and Means, Taxes, Rules, and the Commerce Committees.
In 2010, Anderson was named a Rodel Fellow with the Aspen Institute. She comes with past experience as a Plymouth Planning Commissioner and in business. She and her husband, Paul, a public school teacher, live in Plymouth with their son, Cole.
