REP. McNAMARA NAMED NEW CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

ST. PAUL – Minnesota Speaker of the House-elect Kurt Daudt has appointed State Representative Denny McNamara (R-Hastings) as Chairman of the House Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance Committee.

“Environmental issues have always been among my top legislative concerns,” McNamara said. “Having served as chairman of this committee previously, I am really looking forward to helping craft common sense policies that protect our land, air, and waterways.”

McNamara said this Environment committee is a combination of two DFL committees from last session: Environment Finance and Environment Policy. The committee holds funding and policy jurisdiction over areas such as the Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and renewable and nuclear energy.

Rep. McNamara was recently elected to his 7th term in the Minnesota House. He also served as chairman of the environment committee in 2011 and 2012.
