News from Representative Kresha 07-15-2014

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Dear Friends,

This will be my last email update for 2014. State law requires that legislators may not send out legislative email updates and mass mailings from July 15th through November 4th. However, I am still able to respond to individual constituent emails and letters, so please don't hesitate to contact me at any time by email at rep.ron.kresha@house.mn or by phone at 651-296-4247.

I remain committed to being there for you, and responding to your questions, comments, concerns, and requests for assistance dealing with state or local government, or any other constituent service issue that may arise.

I want to thank you for the tremendous honor of serving our community for the past two years. You placed your trust in me to represent our area in Saint Paul and I've worked hard over the last two years to do everything I can to best represent our area.

I'm proud of the bipartisan work we were able to accomplish over the last two years. Working together with legislators on both sides, the legislature helped expand broadband access to under-served areas—a necessity for continued economic development. The legislature also increased funding for long-term care and provided a rate increase for community-based caregivers for Minnesota's most vulnerable citizens.

I'm writing to you today from Omaha Nebraska at the Midwest Legislative Conference (the trip is not funded by taxpayer funds), talking with fellow legislators and leaders from the Midwest about strategies for economic development and continued job creation in our region. I chose to attend the conference to collaborate with other state legislators who are struggling to bring in high paying jobs and close the skills gap for our next generation. There are some great policy ideas. I will keep working to set aside ideology and work on reality.

Minnesota and other Midwest states have led the economic comeback as our country continues to recover from the recession, but that doesn't mean we can be satisfied with where we're at. We must continue to focus on creating good-paying jobs that can be secure and stable careers for Minnesotans to help raise their families. Far too many Minnesotans remain underemployed, and that's a problem we must continue to try to tackle moving forward.

Please keep in touch as the summer continues. I will keep working hard on your behalf from now until my first term officially concludes in January 2015.

Have a great summer, and don't be a stranger.
