ZELLERS STATEMENT ON TODAY’S DEMOCRAT DEAL

Monday, April 7, 2014
ST. PAUL – State Representative Kurt Zellers (R-Maple Grove) released the following statement today after Democrats announced a deal on imposing an increase in the minimum wage days after House Democrats approved a $90 million Senate office building project.

“In the latest set of fingernails on the chalkboard for Minnesota taxpayers, Democrat legislative leaders announced a deal that will kill jobs in border communities, increase the costs of goods and services for our families and further cement Minnesota as an outlier in our region, while doing nothing to provide high quality jobs for middle class Minnesotans.

In exchange for this deal, Governor Dayton and Democrat politicians are forcing taxpayers to pay for a lavish $90 million office building for the Minnesota State Senate.  Rather than continue his belly-aching about the $90 million building for politicians that he signed into law, Governor Dayton should show some leadership and support legislation to stop construction of this new office building.”
