REP. PAUL ROSENTHAL MEETS WITH GOVERNOR DAYTON TO URGE CHANGES IN TAX PROPOSALS

Friday, March 8, 2013

St. Paul, Minnesota — Yesterday, Rep. Paul Rosenthal met with Governor Mark Dayton to discuss the state budget. Governor Dayton announced today that he is dropping business-to-business taxes from his budget proposals.

“When I met with Governor Dayton I expressed serious concerns with how the business-to-business tax would affect small and large businesses in my community,” said Rep. Rosenthal.  “I am pleased he listened to those of us who want to make sure that we have a proposal that includes pro-business initiatives to keep Minnesota economically competitive.”

“As we discussed the budget I also emphasized the lack of public support for an increased sales tax base, as I have heard from many residents in my district on this issue.  I am encouraged the Governor Dayton has been flexible and receptive, and has changed course on some of his less popular budget proposals.”

Rep. Rosenthal can be reached by phone at 651-296-7803 or by email at rep.paul.rosenthal@house.mn.
