ST. PAUL, MN –Today, the House passed Medical Assistance Expansion, HF 9, on a 71-56 vote. HF 9 will expand health care coverage to an estimated 40,000 low-income, uninsured Minnesotans. The federal government will pay 100 percent of the costs of the program until 2016, phasing down to 90 percent after 2020.
State Representative Lyndon Carlson (DFL-Crystal) released the following statement:
“Medicaid expansion will provide healthcare to additional Minnesotans at a very low cost to the state. This legislation is a high priority and will be one of the first bills to reach Governor Dayton’s desk this session. This federal funding will go a long way to help Minnesota families struggling with a lack of health insurance to get the care that they need.”
