ST. PAUL, Minn.–State Rep. Ernie Leidiger, R-Mayer, today announces he will not seek re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives. At the close of his second term, Rep. Leidiger plans to spend time with an expanding family and re-launch one of his business enterprises.
“It has been an incredible honor and pleasure to serve the hardworking people of Carver County,” states Rep. Leidiger. “I feel so fortunate to live in the best county in the state where folks are productive, passionate and give back because they truly care. My number one concern is to continue representing their needs and priorities until the very end of my term.”
Rep. Leidiger has lived a life of public service. He spent twenty-three years serving in the U.S. Navy, and he co-founded Operation Homefront in 2002 to provide emergency support for troops and their families. In Sept. 2013, Rep. Leidiger organized a delegation of state officials to attend the commissioning ceremony of the USS Minnesota, the nation’s newest fast attack submarine, in Norfolk, Va.
“I have always been committed to serving country before self,” says Rep. Leidiger. “My service will not end with the close of my term in the Minnesota House, and I look forward to staying active in our community and military volunteer organizations.”
Rep. Leidiger is a recognized advocate for limited government and the promotion of growth in the private sector to create jobs for a sustained and vibrant economy. He is confident the next state representative from District 47A will fulfill the same goals.
“I know someone will step up and do a wonderful job. I look forward to supporting their mission to preserve individual freedoms and free market opportunities,” says Rep. Leidiger. “For now, I will continue to represent the folks of Carver County to the best of my abilities.”
