Transportation Finance Committee to Discuss Advisory Committee Recommendations

ST. PAUL, MN – Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Commissioner Charlie Zelle and members of the Transportation Finance Advisory Committee will present overarching statewide recommendations to the House Transportation Finance Committee at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, in room 5 of the State Office Building.

House Transportation Finance Committee Chairman Rep. Frank Hornstein (DFL – Minneapolis) is excited to get the conversation started.

“This is the first time the Legislature will have the opportunity to discuss the recommendations directly with MnDOT and the Advisory Committee.”

One of Rep. Hornstein’s goals as chair is to address state transportation needs and determine appropriate revenue to meet those needs.

“This is an important meeting to get the ball rolling on how we fund transportation projects moving forward,” said Rep. Hornstein. “This is definitely a priority considering the economic impact these projects can have across the state.”

Governor Mark Dayton established Minnesota’s Transportation Finance Advisory Committee in January 2012 to develop recommendations for the next 20 years to fund and finance the state’s highways, roads, bridges and public transport systems, as well as its air, rail and port facilities.

Throughout the legislative session, Rep. Hornstein encourages all constituents to contact him directly with any questions, comments, or concerns on any legislative issue. Rep. Hornstein can be reached by phone at (651) 296-9281 or by email at rep.frank.hornstein@house.mn.
