Rep. Dan Schoen appointed to Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board

STATE REP. DAN SCHOEN APPOINTED TO

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES REGULATORY BOARD

ST. PAUL, MN- State Representative Dan Schoen (DFL-54A) was appointed to the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board to serve as an ex officio, non-voting member. Rep. Schoen was appointed to the Board by Speaker of the House Paul Thissen, and will begin his term on Monday, January 28, 2013.

The Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board was established in 1995 by the Minnesota Legislature, and consists of 15 members appointed by the Governor, in addition to the commissioner of health, the commissioner of public safety, a state representative and a state senator.

According to the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board’s website, the Board’s mission is “to protect the public’s health and safety through regulation and support of the EMS system.” The Board’s duties include; licensing ambulance services, certifying emergency medical personnel, and approving emergency medical services training programs.

Rep. Schoen is in his first term in the Minnesota House of Representatives and currently serves on the Commerce and Consumer Protection Finance and Policy, Health and Human Services Policy, Public Safety Finance and Policy, and Taxes committees.
