State Rep. Jason Metsa Sworn-In as Legislative Session Begins

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

ST. PAUL, MN - State Representative Jason Metsa (DFL - Virginia) was officially sworn in as the District 6B State Representative as the 88th Legislative Session convened at noon on January 8th  at the State Capitol. Rep. Metsa, elected in 2012, is beginning his first term in the Minnesota House of Representatives serving the Iron Range.

Economic forecasts revealed early last month that lawmakers must tackle a $1.1 billion budget shortfall this year. When the money still owed to schools and inflation is included the shortfall rises to over $3 billion.

“This Session, we must balance the budget responsibly and get our economy back on track,” said Metsa. “I plan on working with all legislators to set priorities and do what’s best for the Iron Range and all Minnesotans.”

This session, Rep. Metsa will serve on the Jobs and Economic Development Policy and Finance, Labor, Workplace and Regulated Industries Housing Finance and Policy and Transportation Finance Committees.

“These important committees will help shape legislation in areas that will directly impact the residents of 6B,” said Rep. Metsa.  “I feel fortunate to be able to be part of these key committees.”

Throughout the legislative session, Rep. Metsa encourages all constituents to contact him directly with any questions, comments, or concerns on any legislative issue. Rep. Metsa can be reached by phone at (651) 296-0170 or by e-mail at rep.jason.metsa@house.mn.
