STATE REP. PATTI FRITZ PARTICIPATES IN START OF LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

ST. PAUL, MN - State Representative Patti Fritz (DFL - Faribault) participated in House ceremonies as the 88th Legislative Session convened at noon on January 8th  at the State Capitol.  Rep. Fritz, first elected in 2004, is beginning her fifth term in the Minnesota House of Representatives serving Rice, Steele and Dodge Counties.

“It was my pleasure to participate in the first day of session ceremonies," said Rep. Fritz. “I am happy to be back to work representing the interests of Southern Minnesota.”

Economic forecasts revealed early last month that lawmakers must tackle a $1.1 billion budget shortfall this year. When the money still owed to schools and inflation is included the shortfall rises to over $3 billion.

“Despite the challenges that we face, I am confident that we can set clear priorities in responsibly balancing the budget and investing in our schools.” added Rep. Fritz.

Rep. Fritz noted the need for bipartisanship and compromise at the Capitol.

“The tone is more respectful than it has been in the past,” said Rep. Fritz.  “I am positive that lawmakers can find common ground to move our state forward.”

Throughout the legislative session, Rep. Fritz encourages all constituents to contact her directly with any questions, comments, or concerns on any issue. Rep. Fritz can be reached by phone at (651) 296-8237 or by email at rep.patti.fritz@house.mn.
