ST. PAUL – State Representative-Elect Shannon Savick (DFL-Wells) has been appointed by Speaker-Elect Paul Thissen to serve on several key committees in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Savick will be a member of the Public Safety Finance and Policy; the Jobs and Economic Development Finance; and the Labor, Workplace and Regulated Industries Committees for the 2013-14 Session.

“I’m very excited to be assigned to these important committees and for the opportunity to help shape legislation in areas that will directly impact the residents of District 27A,” said Rep.-elect Savick. “Promoting jobs and economic development is vital to keeping our economy moving forward and public safety is a core government function critical to our area and communities across the state,” added Savick.

Rep. Elect Savick was the former Mayor of Wells and a former Wells City Council member. Before retiring, she had a 28-year career in technology sales and marketing at Digital Equipment and holds a BS in Math and Physics from MSU-Mankato and an MBA from Clark University.

“To have this opportunity to serve my state and community is a great honor and I am eager to work on issues that will bring positive change to District 27A,” Savick concluded.

Minnesota’s 2013 Legislative Session will officially convene on January 8, 2013 when all 134 State Representatives will be sworn into office during a ceremony at the State Capitol.
