POPPE SELECTED AS AGRICULTURE POLICY COMMITTEE CHAIR
ST. PAUL – Today, Minnesota House Speaker-designate Paul Thissen appointed State Representative Jeanne Poppe (DFL-Austin) as chair of the House Agriculture Policy Committee. Rep. Poppe, recently re-elected to a 5th term in the House of Representatives, released the following news statement:
"Considering the important impact agriculture and the food industries make on Minnesota's economy and the vitality of rural communities across the state, it's an honor to be named Chair of the Agriculture Policy Committee. I look forward to working with all the agriculture community to move Minnesota forward and am honored that Speaker-designate Paul Thissen has given me this opportunity. The committee will address challenges facing Minnesota farmers and look at agricultural growth, research and innovation to develop and enhance products and production. Chairing a committee that deals with important issues that directly affect my southern Minnesota district and across the state is a privilege.”
