At the invitation of State Representative Ann Lenczewski (Bloomington), Governor Dayton is visiting the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge on Saturday, September 22 at 11:00 am. Rep. Lenczewski is encouraging bicyclists (recreational, commuter and off-road), hikers, birders, transit advocates, walkers, environmental and historical site advocates, and all other interested parties to join Governor Dayton at the event.
State Representative Lenczewski stated, The Old Cedar Avenue Bridge project is a high priority for the region. With the support of hundreds of citizens over the years and the bipartisan backing of the Minnesota Legislature, and many other partners, we had hoped the project would have been completed by now. Unfortunately, unforeseen problems have prevented that from happening.
It is time we make a final push to complete this project. This is our opportunity to show Governor Dayton how important it is to our community to finally get this recreational asset and critical link restored, added Lenczewski.
The event is open to the public. The site is located just south of the intersection of Old Cedar Avenue and Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington.
