Legislative Update (July 19, 2013)

Friday, July 19, 2013

Dear Neighbor,

On Tuesday, I had the honor of celebrating the opening of Valley Cartage in Lake Elmo. Valley Cartage is a Hudson-based family owned trucking company that moved its logistics operations to the Wipfli building in Lake Elmo.

I had learned a few months ago from Lake Elmo city officials that they were concerned about potentially losing out on the opportunity to have Valley Cartage locate in their community. I called Governor Dayton personally to encourage his administration to approve Valley Cartage’s application for the Minnesota Investment Fund (a program that provides financing to help add new workers and retain high-quality jobs on a statewide basis).

Because of the dedication and commitment of Lake Elmo Mayor Mike Pearson, Washington County Commissioner Gary Kriesel as well as Lake Elmo officials and staff working tirelessly with the MN Department of Employment & Economic Development, Valley Cartage was able to locate in the community and bring about 100 jobs with them. You can read more about Valley Cartage’s move to Lake Elmo in the Stillwater Gazette.

As always, I am interested in your feedback. Please feel free to contact me by e-mail at Rep.Kathy.Lohmer@House.MN or contact my office at 651-296-4244. You can also send mail to my office address: 239 State Office Building, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155.

Sincerely,

Kathy
