REP. FABIAN APPLAUDS EFFORTS OF LOCAL CATTLE COMMUNITY
N.W. Stockmen’s Association hosts the 2013 Minn. State Cattlemen's Summer Tour

ST. PAUL—On July 9, State Representative Dan Fabian (R-Roseau) participated in the Minnesota State Cattlemen's Summer Tour hosted by the Northwestern Stockmen's Association (NSA). Producers and members of the cattle community from around the state toured local farms, cattle operations and affiliate businesses to gain a better understanding of northwestern Minnesota’s economic and entrepreneurial impact on the beef industry.

“It is because of the hard work and commitment made by these folks that our area has a lot to offer in the livestock and agriculture industry,” Rep. Fabian said. “Thanks to NSA President Steve Haugen (Malung), fellow board members, volunteers and participating businesses for their dedication to making the day a huge success.”

The tour included stops at Burkel Grain (Greenbush), Waage Farms (Strathcona), Central Boiler (Greenbush), Isane Farms (Badger), Skime Ranch (Skime) and Haugen’s Bear Creek Ranch (Malung). Owners of Bert’s Livestock Watering Systems (Greenbush) and CarlSon Angus (Thief River Falls) also spoke of their enterprises. Industry leaders gave presentations regarding cattle production, nutrition, watering systems, rotational grazing, new equipment, and several other topics.

The NSA has 75 members and is one of over twenty local affiliates of the Minnesota State Cattlemen's Association (MSCA). The MSCA currently represents over 1,000 members from all segments of the beef community and is primarily focused on addressing local, state, and federal issues that impact the long-term viability of cattle farming, and ensuring that Minnesota's business climate welcomes the growth and long-term success of raising cattle in Minnesota.
