“As Minnesota's economy shows signs of recovery and people get back to work, a substantial increase in the state's minimum wage could have damaging effects. Along with the unknown higher costs that increased taxes, fees, and the Affordable Care Act will bring to our businesses, this mandated cost hike on mom and pop shops adds to an ever-increasing burden on Minnesota’s young people, minorities, and hardworking families. Today's national jobs report showed much of our job growth came in lower-paying fields, such as hotels, restaurants and retail - industries that would be hurt by a $9.50 minimum wage.”
