Monday, April 15, 2013

Dear Friends,

I want to thank the many of you that came to Saturday's Town Hall Meeting to share your thoughts and have your questions answered about the budget and a number of other issues. It's extremely helpful to hear your feedback as we approach the last several weeks of session.

If you weren't able to attend, and would like to share your input or have any questions you'd like answered, I hope you'll email me at rep.mark.uglem@house.mn or call my office at 651-296-5513.

Budget Bills Come to the Floor This Week

Most of our committee work is now over, and this week the omnibus budget bills that will make up the 2014-2015 biennium will come to the House floor for initial passage.

On Monday, we will take up the first budget omnibus bill, the Jobs and Economic Development bill. We're also scheduled to take up the Environment, Natural Resources, and Agriculture Finance bill on Friday. We may see additional omnibus bills added to the calendar, as we will be in session every day this week, Monday through Saturday.

Each of these bills contains dozens of individual pieces of legislation wrapped into one large bill. I will be evaluating each of the bills on its merits as a whole and the pros and cons for our Champlin and Coon Rapids communities as they come to the floor before deciding how to vote. I welcome your input as always if you have thoughts about any of the bills.

I expect there to be bipartisan support for at least a few of the omnibus bills, and thank my colleagues across the aisle for working together with the minority on some of the provisions that were included in the various budget areas.

Have a great week,

Mark Uglem
State Representative, District 36A
