Dear Friends,

Some updates from this week:

Around the District
Great to be back in the District. This week the Little Falls One-Act play competed at the State competition and the Little Falls girls Nordic Ski team qualified for the State meet for the 8th consecutive year. Congratulations to all our great students!

Today, I traveled to Fish Trap Lake to retrieve the ice house before the storm. While doing so, I was able to meet the wonderful crew at the Advantage Automotive on Hwy 10 across from Staples Sports. (Almost bought a 1980's Pontiac Fiero). Great growing company in our Lakes Area.

Afterwards, I had some time to visit and have wonderful meatloaf with the Amazing Days Elderly Daycare in Randall. Marie is a wonderful host and one of the most kind elderly care people I have met. There are some funding and regulation issues we need to talk about, and I look forward to helping her as best I can.

State of the State

On Wednesday, I had the honor of attending my first State of the State address. We were joined in the House chamber by members of the Senate, our Constitutional Officers, members of the Minnesota Supreme Court, and a number of other special guests for the Governor's annual address.

Prior to the State of the State, House Republicans held a roundtable listening session with local job creators from districts around the state. At the roundtable, we heard firsthand about the impacts that Governor Dayton's proposed tax increases would have on jobs and the bottom lines of companies large and small. These tax increases will be felt most by the middle-class, and will result in the loss of good-paying jobs.

It was an honor to welcome Bob Guck of Airborn Inc. as my guest. Airborn Inc. opened their new facility just last year in Little Falls, and is the source of many good paying jobs for families in our district.

Meetings

On Tuesday, I had the chance to attend the Farm Bureau reception at the University Club, and met with the Morrison County Farm Bureau to hear about their legislative priorities and concerns. I also met with several constituents who were in Saint Paul for Nurses Day on the Hill.

If you are planning on coming to Saint Paul, and would like to schedule a meeting to discuss issues of importance to you or your organization, please contact me at rep.ron.kresha@house.mn or by phone at 651-296-4247.

Gun Bills

This week we spent three entire days on hearings for restrictive gun legislation that would punish law-abiding gun owners and do nothing to enhance public safety or keep certain firearms out of the hands of criminals. Hundreds of pro-Second Amendment advocates packed the halls of the State Office Building and the committee hearing rooms to oppose these misguided pieces of legislation. Gun control advocates were few and far between.

I want to thank every one that showed up, as well as the hundreds of constituents who have contacted me to voice their support for protecting gun rights. I am committed to opposing any efforts to limit your Second Amendment rights.

Have a great weekend,

Ron Kresha
State Representative, District 09B
