ST. PAUL – Rep. Sondra Petersen (R – Princeton) announced this week that she has joined a lawsuit filed in federal court that seeks to require that state and county officials first confirm eligibility of Election Day registrants before certifying ballots.
Erickson’s involvement in the lawsuit stems from her 2008 re-election campaign which fell short by only 89 votes. After a recount and almost four years, Erickson points out that there are still 242 election-day registrants that have not been verified from that election.
“After observing my recount in 2008, I feel as though we are not doing all that we can to honor our constitutional right to fair elections, said Erickson. “If some candidates had not had recounts, these issues may have gone unnoticed and unchecked. I just hope that this lawsuit will shine some light on the same-day registration problem we have in this state”
Erickson can be reached by phone at (651) 296-6746. She can also be contacted via e-mail at email@example.com, or via U.S. Mail at 509 State Office Building, St. Paul, MN 55155.
