STATE REPRESENTATIVE ROSENTHAL TO HOLD TOWN MEETING - Invites residents to join him for a discussion of the 2010 legislative session

State Representative Paul Rosenthal will hold a town meeting next Thursday, April 29 from 6:30 - 8pm at the Perkins Restaurant located at West 98TH St. & Normandale Blvd. in Bloomington. Topics will include a review of the 2010 legislative session progress to date, a discussion of the state budget deficit and a preview of the final weeks of the session.

"I'm always eager to meet hear what my neighbors think about the issues we face" said Rep. Rosenthal. "We’re facing some big challenges in Minnesota, including how to jump start our economy and create new jobs. Hearing a wide range of views helps me better represent our community at the Capitol."

With little more than three weeks left in the 2010 Legislative Session, Rosenthal and fellow lawmakers have already passed two major jobs initiatives, restored health care for 70,000 of Minnesota’s poorest people, passed comprehensive absentee ballot reform, and made progress on a bipartisan small business agenda. Additionally, a bi-partisan bill that trims more than $300 million in government spending to resolve the state’s $1 billion budget deficit has already been signed into law by Governor Pawlenty.

Rosenthal predicts the fast pace will continue through the end of the session, leading to an on-time and under-budget adjournment by the May 17 constitutional deadline.

As I talk to my neighbors about what they’d like to see coming from state government, it’s pretty clear – they don’t’ care where good ideas come from - they just want us to work together to get things done,” said Rosenthal. “The bi-partisan progress we’ve already made is what Minnesotans deserve and expect from state leaders. Part of that progress is due in large part to productive conversations that take place in our communities about the best ways to move forward.”
