State Rep. Erin Murphy released the following statement in response to news from Governor Pawlenty’s Office that he will veto the bill to restore General Assistance Medical Care from Washington D.C.
“The bill sitting on Governor Pawlenty’s empty desk to restore GAMC provides basic care to the most vulnerable Minnesotans at a lower cost to taxpayers. His veto would be more expensive to Minnesota taxpayers than his signature. His veto would cause more health care job losses and premium increases than his signature.
For these reasons, an overwhelming majority of Democrats and Republicans support our common sense and compassionate solution. In our heart and in our minds, it is the right thing to do for Minnesota."
