On Wednesday February 23 I had the privilege of meeting Governor Dayton, Ad. General Nash from the National Guard, Christine Eide from Emergency Management and the Commissioner of Commerce who gathered with county commissioners and other legislators from this district to talk about preparation for a possible serious flooding this spring. There were also many mayors, city council members, folks from the Washington County Sheriff’s office, along with concerned citizens whose hope it is to be very well prepared in advance for any relief efforts that need to take place.
We were given three websites to check if people have questions regarding flooding possibilities.
The first is www.floodsmart.gov and www.insurance.mn.gov. There will be links you can follow to hopefully answer your questions. Other questions about flood insurance, you can call 651-296-6025.
Also checking the Washington County Website, you will find other links from the DNR, Army Corp of Engineers, and North Central River Forecast.
Governor Dayton was extremely willing to do all he can to help our district with a smooth process for all our citizens in the event of serious flooding and I commend him for having the necessary folks in place to help if we should have an emergency situation.
